Email 60: Bishop Ross + BYU-Idaho Singers + Exchange with Elder Mckendrick

Received on March 10, 2014

Hey y'all! So first off I am happy Shane was such a beast at State. I am sure that was lots and lots of fun. And I am sure there are many many more state tournaments still to be had for our family! Haha

We just barely left our Bishop's house where we taugth one of his friends, Serge (He is from Ukraine). It was super awesome! Bishop Ross is a star. He has such great vision and excitement about sharing the gospel and saving as many of God's children as possible and he is leading the ward by example! This is the future for us. We are going away from tracting and going into Members homes! And we expect to see greater miracles than ever before as the saints here in Federal Way pray sincerely and overcome fear and let God lead them to sharing thegospel and bringing in all those that are prepared. So many great things are going to happen!
This Friday the BYU-Idaho Singers are doing a performance at our church building. I cant remember if I already told y'all about this but They had one free night in the area and the director is good friends with PRes. Eaton and so he asked if they could do a mission activity. Pres. Eaton called Elder Cannon and I and said that he wanted us and our ward to take ownership of this. So it is exclusively for our stake and it is at the Redondo ward building and it is going to be awesome. We have been working real hard with the members to help them invite friends and family who don't know about the gospel. Pray that it is a success. Our main goal is that every ward in the stake has at least one success story. If this happens, it will light the Federal Way Stake on FIRE!
As far as key-indicators go, we hit rock bottom this week haha. It was really weird. It wasn't just us but the Hermanas and Spanish Elders in Redondo had the same thing happen. It was just like everything fell through and everyone that we were working with just stopped progressing. Craziest thing though because all of us feel more potential right now than ever before. We talked with Elder Quackenbush (spanish Elder and District leader) about how we are literally at the very beginning and we are catching a new vision and how we will build a great foundation from this point forward. The Spirit was there as we talked and confirmed to us that Heavenly Father is definitely pleased with what we are doing and that we must just be patient (seems like a theme here??). I am super pumped right now though so don't even worry for a second!
The During family is back on the radar. They are set on coming to church this next Sunday and we will hopefully be planning Diamond and Joseph's baptisms to happen at the end of this month! Pray that goes through! We found a couple other Part-member families this week that we will be teaching and a few other great people that we have appointments with this week! God is too great.
We had Mission Leadership Council this week! Great experience. So the group that I came out with are just a bunch of stars. 6 of the 8 zones have zone leaders from our group and there are 7 total from our group that are zone leaders right now. Pres. Eaton isnt too excited for next January to roll around haha. But we had a great council about the changes we are making here in Federal Way and everyone is on board and catching the vision!  Quotes from Pres. Eaton:
-"God sees what wards are praying sincerely and overcoming fear to share the gospel. He will bless those wards."
-"The way we deal with change in the Lord's Kingdom is a barometer of our discipleship."
That man is incredible!
I also got to go on exchange with Elder Mckendrick finally! Reunited once again! He came to Redondo with me for a day and we loved it. We are very good friends. He promised me that we could be friends forever too.... I know I am still weird. But thats all right!
My insight for the week:
3 Ne 11:14-15
14 Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may athrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may bfeel the prints of thenails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that am the cGod of Israel, and the God of the whole dearthand havebeen slain for the sins of the world.
15 And it came to pass that the multitude went forthand thrust their hands into his side, and adid feel the prints of thenails in his hands and in his feet; and this they did do, going forth one by one until they had all gone forth, and did see withtheir eyes and did feel with their hands, and did know of surety and did bear record, that it was he, of whom it was writtenby the prophets, that should come.
As saints striving to share the gospel we must follow the Savior's example of just simply inviting. As guided by the spirit, invite anyone and everyone to come and feel and see. The Spirit will do the rest. And as you do this prayerfully, seeking for God's guidance. There is NO DOUBT that He will lead you to one of His children that is searching and in need. So let us pray, and let us OPEN OUR MOUTHS AND INVITE!
Love you all so much! Have a great week! Praying for you always!

Elder Cook
